At the Open Day of Fondazione Toscana Sostenibile at the Casa dei Diritti in Viareggio, Inclusion and Project Results
Within the framework of our European project Escape2EU, an Open Day organised by Fondazione Toscana Sostenibile (FTS) recently took place at the Casa dei Diritti in Viareggio.
This event was part of the crucial activities foreseen by the project for the dissemination and exploitation of the results.
The general objectives achieved were:
- Engagement of target groups and stakeholders for non-formal learning and civic engagement.
- Increased awareness of migration and cultural heritage
- Presentation of the project results.
- Recruitment of individuals for potential future project activities.
The choice of the Casa dei Diritti in Viareggio as a venue proved to be strategic, given the presence of the Sportello Immigrazione, which, with its existing services, represents a direct and trusted contact point offering relevant services for young people with a migrant background, one of the main target groups of the project.
During the Open Day, several activities took place, with the role of the Casa dei Diritti being crucial for their success and to effectively reach the public.
Awareness raising and discussion: information sessions and discussion moments were organised to “raise awareness on migration, cultural heritage and acceptance”. The Casa dei Diritti provided the welcoming space and a consolidated reference point in the local community, facilitating the participation of young people, youth workers, families and community members. The infrastructure and network of the Casa dei Diritti allowed the creation of an environment conducive to dialogue and to the promotion of the values of inclusion and acceptance dear to the project.
Presentation of the project results: The concrete results developed in the framework of Escape2EU were presented.
This is included in the presentation:
- Of the Physical Escape Room, based on the stories collected during the World Storytelling Cafés. The Casa dei Diritti, by hosting the event, was able to offer suitable spaces for demonstrations or interactive presentations of this innovative non-formal learning tool.
- The Interactive Online Platform, which includes the map of good practices and training resources. The presentation of these digital tools was made more effective thanks to the logistical and technical support of Casa dei Diritti.
- Training Materials for Youth Workers.
Engagement and Recruitment: A primary objective of the event was to “recruit people for possible future activities of the project”. The awareness and network of Casa dei Diritti among young people (including those with a migrant background) and youth workers in the area were crucial in attracting participants potentially interested in taking part in workshops, training or future initiatives related to the project.
The crucial role of Casa dei Diritti Viareggio, in this hypothetical scenario, was not limited to that of a simple host. Its deep knowledge of the territory, its connection with the local community and its existing activity supporting migrants amplified the impact of the Open Day, ensuring that the message of the Escape2EU project reached the most relevant audience and that the event effectively contributed to the dissemination and recruitment objectives.
In conclusion, the Open Day represented a concrete example of how the strategic planning of the Escape2EU project, with the leadership of Fondazione Toscana Sostenibile and the collaboration with key local actors such as Casa dei Diritti, can translate into successful events for the dissemination of results and the involvement of target groups. The integration of the planned activities (awareness raising, presentation of results, recruitment) with the context and network of the Casa dei Diritti Viareggio maximised the potential of this crucial event for the sustainability and impact of the project on the territory.
